On-Demand Service
KABS on demand is a curb-to-curb service, meaning we pick you up right where you are and drop you off right where you need to be. KABS serves all of Kosciusko County from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, except major holidays.
Three Options to Schedule Your Ride
- Standing Reservations: We pick you up each day the service is needed. You never have to call unless you need to cancel. This is great if you have a set schedule, maybe for work or recurring appointments. Please note that this reservation type has some limitations based on capacity.
- Pre-Scheduled Trip: Call or email to schedule your ride up to two weeks in advance. This option is perfect for occasional transportation needs or schedules that vary. Scheduling as far in advance as possible allows a greater possibility for ride availability.
- Same Day Service: If something unexpected comes up, call us! We’ll do our best to meet your transportation needs based on availability of bus space and drivers. However, passengers with standing reservations and pre-scheduled trips are given priority.
On-Demand Fee Schedule
Please note:
- Fees listed below are for rides scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
- Same-day fee: Add $5 to the fare if you call for a ride the same day
- Cancellations: All cancellations must be received at least one hour prior to the scheduled pickup time by calling dispatch at 574-267-4900. See KABS Passenger Guide for more information.
- No-show fee: There will be a $5 fee for no-shows or rides not appropriately cancelled at least one hour in advance.
- Correct change is required. Drivers cannot make change.
- Tickets or tokens can be purchased between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1804 E. Winona Ave.

On-Demand Bus Pass
On-demand KABS riders can purchase a convenient money-saving bus pass, available at the KABS office or from a KABS driver.
- You pay $24 and receive $30 worth of on-demand ride credit!
- Each ride deducts the equivalent fare from your balance on the pass.
- No need for cash onboard!
- The pass is non-refundable.
Deviated Fixed Route
KABS offers a deviated fixed route known as the Lake City Loop in Warsaw and Winona Lake. This service follows a scheduled loop with designated stops, while offering limited off-route pick-ups/drop-offs (within ¼ mile) by advance request.
Buses run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.
Buses are equipped with bike racks (capacity for two bikes) for additional convenience.
Deviated Fixed Route Fee Schedule
- Regular fare: $1 per trip
- Additional deviation fee: $0.50, exact change is required
- Children (8 and under): Free (Limit 2 per fare-paying adult)
- Monthly pass: $20, ride all you want in one calendar month; passes can be purchased at the KABS office.
Requesting a Deviation
If you cannot get to a bus stop, you can call (574) 267-4990 ahead of time to request a deviation from the fixed route. The bus can deviate one time per hour to locations within a quarter mile radius of the fixed route to pick up or drop off passengers.
Deviations cost an additional 50 cents each, even with a monthly pass.
Deviation requests should be made at least one day in advance, and requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis up to one week in advance. Limited same-day deviation requests will be accepted if capacity allows. If we cannot grant your deviation request, we will attempt to accommodate your trip with the on-demand service. Applicable on-demand fees will apply.

Route Schedule
Buses follow a 1-hour loop, arriving at each stop consistently every hour.
The top of the schedule lists stops along the route, with five stops highlighted as time-points to help you estimate bus arrival times at locations along the way. Try to arrive at the bus stop five to 10 minutes early if possible.
During the last 15 minutes of the day, 5:45 to 6 p.m., stops are for drop offs only. Riders will not be picked up.
